What bike and kit do I need?
Whatever bike you take it is your responsibility to ensure
it is fit for purpose and up to the rigours of 10 hours riding. Common issues
include problems changing gear, poor brakes, un-oiled chain and loose bolts. We
need to ride as a peloton so it is essential for the whole group that hold ups are kept to a minimum. Road
bikes with thin tyres are best. Mountain or hi-brid bikes can be used if they
have road tyres .Big knobbly mountain tyres you will make you expend a lot of energy overcoming friction. K
eeping up with those road bikes will be possible but more difficult. Despite briefings some individuals turn up with bikes unfit for purpose and cannot complete the whole route as a result. This is a factor we can control! Have your bike serviced beforehand!
